GJCians participate in Mrs.Kani Presentation Competition

Omshri Gavankar Wins the Second Prize 

February 24, 2014 -- Geography Dept.
                   Two GJCians, Ms. Deepali Gothankar and Omshri Gavankar (both the students of Geography Dept.)  participated  in Mrs. Kani Presentation Competition organized jointly by CKT College, Panvel and Bombay Geographic Association on 22nd February, 2014. The theme of the competition was Biodiversity. 22 students from various colleges in Maharashtra participated in the competition. The participants had to make a 10 minute power-point presentation based on the theme.  The topic of Deepali's presentation was  'Eco-friendly Lifestyle', while Omshri's presentation was on the topic 'Threats to Bio-diversity'. His thorough study of the topic, emphasis on local examples and effective presentation skills were highly appreciated by the judges and the audience, and he was awarded the second prize which included a Trophy, a Certificate and the cash of Rs.300.  Both the GJCians were guided by Dr. Surendra Thakurdesai and Prof. Mrs. R.R.Bhovad.  Prof. Ramesh Kamble worked as the team manager. 


LITERARY ASSOCIATION  ARRANGES A TALK ON HINDI POET 'NEPALI'

The Literary Association and Hindi Department of the Collage arranged for the students a special talk on a famous Hindi poet - Nepali. A well known speaker Dr. Shyamprasad from Bihar was the resource person who enfolded the lifeline of the poet and explain with  numerous poetic illustrations the process of poetic creation of Kavi Nepali. The session was especially helpful for the SYBA students of Hindi as for them Kavi Nepali is a part of their syllabus , said Dr. Shahu Madhale  who made introductory remarks of the programme. Dr. Nidhi Patwardhan anchored the programme; Ms. Shilpa Gonbare introduced the guest speaker while Mr. Khandekar delivered the vote of thanks.






SOCIAL SCIENCE ASSOCIATION TALKS ON SEBI 
& FINANCIAL PLANNING FOR YOUTH

The Social Sciences' Association of our college organised a lecture on the Role of SEBI and Financial Planning especially for the young generation investors. Dr. Vijay Kakade, Head of the Department of Economics, Shivaji University, Kolhapur was the resource person who in a very simple and student-friendly manner explained the various aspects and areas of financial planning.  Dr.Waman Sawant introduced the guest speaker while Mr.Ram Sartape anchored the programme.



MA GEOGRAPHY (SEM I & III) RESULT 100%...
SONAL HARDIKAR AS UNIVERSITY TOPPER

Our PG department of Geography affiliated to the Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth has once again come up with cent percent result. The result of MA (Geography) (SEM I & III) was declared in the last week and it is once again 100 %. Ms. Sonal Hardikar with ' O' grade stood topper in the First Semester Exam while Mr. Rakesh Yadav stood second in the Third Semester Exam.





NCC OFFICER ARUN YADAV BECOMES LIEUTENANT

      Prof. Arun Yadav, an NCC officer of our college, has been now promoted to the rank of lieutenant recently. He  had achieved first rank in the  NCC's Refresher Course held in Andhra Pradesh in July 2013 and has now received the official letter that he has been promoted to the rank of lieutenant from his present post of sub-lieutenant.

        Prof. Arun Yadav is a lecturer in Foundation Course and Rural Development in the Arts Faculty of the college and has been working as an NCC officer since 2005.

Additional Class Tests of Second & Forth Semester of BA to start on 13th February


The regular class tests of the second and forth semester of BA were conducted during January 13 to 21.  Students were given the notice to attend the class tests without fail.  However the college authorities have taken the decision to conduct additional class tests for those students who were absent during the regular class tests with prior permission of the concern teachers.  These tests will be conducted during 13th February to 15th February.  The detailed time table is displayed on the students' notice board.  The students who could not attend the regular class tests earlier are appealed not to miss the additional ones.
